Trademarked Without Consent:

The Fight for What’s Right

Written by Gabs Range legal team

Despite a promising collaboration between illustrator, animator and author Gabs Range — the original creator behind the beloved children’s book Zac and Tia and The Amazing Toy Shop — and Eunice/Apet, what began as a mutual effort quickly took a troubling turn. With Gabs’ full permission, Eunice/Apet began showcasing and selling the book at events across the UK. However, instead of honoring the creative partnership, Eunice made a calculated move to cut the creator out entirely.

Without any discussion or agreement, she attempted to claim full ownership of the Zac and Tia brand, even going so far as to file a trademark for the title and concept — all of which were solely developed by Gabs Range. This covert attempt to seize control has not gone unnoticed. Her trademark application is now under official challenge, and a cease and desist order has been issued to halt all further sales and promotional efforts involving the book.

Furthermore, legal notices have been sent to event organisers, educational institutions, and printing companies across the UK, warning that any continued collaboration with Eunice/Apet regarding the book could constitute willful copyright infringement — carrying potential legal consequences for all involved.

This situation serves as a stark reminder: intellectual property is not just an idea — it is protected under law. We hope this matter is resolved swiftly and justly, and that respect for creators remains at the forefront of every collaboration.
